Here are some natural and simple remedies which can be followed in treating your cracked heels. They are:

* The first and foremost you can do to treat your cracked heels is that you should keep your body and skin hydrated. To do so drink water in good quantity. Excess of water in body will keep your skin soft and will prevent dryness of the skin.
* Whenever you return back home, make sure that wash your feet and clean them. This will prevent your heels from getting any infection.
* Scrub your feet regularly to get rid of the excess of dead skin deposition.
* You can use pumice stone once in a week to remove dead skin from the feet.
* Regularly massage your heels with petroleum jelly to ensure they are soft and moist.
* Make sure that the nails of your feet are short and trimmed
* In case you are suffering from cracked heels, just soak them in lukewarm water which will make the hard dead skin soft and tender, which can be easily removed.
* Never leave your cracked heels open. Wear cotton socks throughout the day to protect them from any infection.
* Massage your cracked heels regularly using a foot massage cream.
* Avoid wearing socks or shoes with wet feet. You can spray powder on your feet to keep your feet dry.
* In case your feet are paining, then soak them in warm water with salt added to it, and then soak them in cold water immediately. Soak them for more than half an hour. This therapy will improve the circulation of blood in your heels which will help in early healing of your cracked heels.
* Avoid wearing uncomfortable shoes as they can worsen your cracked heels.

The steps which are involved in foot treatment are:

* A series of precise manipulations are required in this method, by gently rotating the bones and by stretching the soft tissues.
* The condition is not painful for the patient, even if the object is held in the same position. Now, a cast is applied from the toes to the groin.
* These casts are changed every 5-7 days and most of the children require 60-100 casts.
* The position of feet improves gradually till they are pointed in the outward direction. Once this degree of correction is achieved the surgeon looks for the tightness of the heel in the baby’s foot.
* In case the baby has the tight heel chord then it will require a small surgery
to lengthen it up.
* In this surgery, a small cut is made just above the back of the heel to correct the deformity.
* Once the surgery is done, the baby wears the cast in the leg and foot for 2-3 weeks.

The dry and cracked cuticles can be rubbed with natural acids like vinegar, salicylic acid and lemon. The use of these acids will help in peeling off the dead cuticles and help the new skin to grow rapidly. These acids will also prevent any fungal growth.
* Take some lukewarm water in a bowl and put some slices of lemon into it. Now soak your dry and cracked fingers in this solution. This will make your fingers soft and moist and will also help in early healing.
* Mix one tablespoon of honey in a bowl of lukewarm water and also add a few drops of lemon juice into it. Now soak your cracked fingers in this solution for a few minutes and using a cuticle stick, try to push back the cracked skin inside. This will also help in healing
the dry and cracked fingers.
* Massage your fingers with olive oil regularly at night and wear gloves before going to bed. This will enclose the moisture inside for the entire night and will keep your fingers moist for a longer time.
* You can apply a thick layer of milk on your cracked fingers to keep them moisturized.
* Keep your hands away from water. In case you cannot avoid using water then it would be better if you wear gloves while working with water.
* Take proper care of your hands. Keep them moisturized. Prevent your hands from excessive temperatures of heat and cold, as extreme temperatures can also cause cracked and dry fingers.

More often than not, we take our feet for granted and end up having pains and injuries. Here are simple and basic ways to care for your feet.

Wash and Moisturize- Our feet look best when they are clean and supple. For a soothing foot bath, soak your feet in warm/tepid soapy water for about 5 minutes. This softens your soles and you can try to rub pumice over it to thin off any building callus. Dry off your feet and apply a moisturizing foot lotion. Foot lotions often come in peppermint scent to give off a more soothing feeling. This keeps your feet hydrated and less dry.

Trim-Make a habit of trimming your toenails regularly. Keep them short and clean. As much as possible, cut them straight in order to avoid ingrown nails. Ingrown nails are painful and when neglected, can become a serious problem. In some cases, it requires surgery to treat those ingrown nails.

Wear the Right Size and Kind of Footwear- In most cases, our foot injuries and pains are caused by ill-fitting shoes and footwear that do not provide our feet the proper support they need. A lot of women torture their feet with super high heels or the super thin sandals and flip flops. These kinds of footwear do not properly distribute the pressure from the weight of our body to our feet. Instead, they concentrate the pressure on the wrong points of our feet leading to corns, bunions, and torn ligaments. Buy your shoes at the end of the day when your feet are in its largest size. Consider the cushion and support a pair of shoe offers before purchasing.

Athlete’s foot is a widespread problem and finding a remedy for athlete’s foot that works for you isn’t always simple. The problem is caused by tinea pedis, a fungus that infects the skin’s topmost layer. Fungus is an infection that can affect any area of the body including hands, feet, the groin, the scalp and armpits. It generally occurs in moist places, consequently between the toes and in the groin area are the most common areas where fungus is found. Some commonsense methods to avoid infection by athlete’s foot include washing your feet daily, always drying the feet thoroughly, not walking around barefoot in public places and changing your socks frequently.

Athlete’s foot medications include over-the-counter creams and lotions, but with very severe infection you may need to see a doctor to give you some stronger medicine. But treating most cases of this infection is quite straightforward and you can use a natural athlete’s foot cure if the condition is not too serious. Some of the home remedies include using bleach, vinegar or Epsom salts. OTC cures typically include antifungal treatments and can be bought as powders, creams or sprays but they’re not always effective in particular if the fungus is under the nails.

What are the Symptoms of Athlete’s Foot?

Though a few people may become infected and be symptomless the majority of people will find that they have itching skin which may peel. For those severely affected there might be tenderness, and the skin may crack and bleed. The usual body area to see symptoms of athlete’s foot is underneath the foot where the skin may well be red, very dry and peel. Peeling, itching and dry flakes could also be present between the toes and the flaking may spread to the top of the foot. In severe athlete’s foot there might be sizable blisters, when it is called bullous tinea pedis. There could also be thick red patches of skin and red calluses. Athletes foot could also spread to the hands, in which case it is called tinea manuum.

1. work the pumice-stone in circular movements around the damp heels and balls of your feet to slough away the dead, hard skin. Work lightly over any hard skin on tips of the toes, without scraping the nails themselves.

	2. With an orange stick wrapped in damp cotton wool, ease back the cuticles and clean around the nails as with the manicure mentioned above. Rinse feet and dry briskly with the rough side of a towel. Message gently in between the toes, drying thoroughly.

	3. Check the length of the nails every three weeks or so, They should be no longer-or shorter -than just covering the tip of the too beneath. Clip them straight across with the nail clippers. (Do not shape the sides as this encourages ingrowing toenails.) Smooth the edges with the fine side of an emery board so that there are no jagged edges to snag tights or cause tears.

	4. Squeeze a walnut-sized blob of hand cream or body lotion into the palm of your hand then massage it over each foot, treating each toe individually. Firmly stroke the feet between both hands from toes up onto your ankles several times to boost circulation and soothe aches.

	5. Remove grease from the toes with a cotton-wool bud soaked in water or polish remover, then apply nail polish, making sure the toes are well separated by firm pads of cotton wool.

Corns or callouses : A corn is a build-up of hard skin which forms a buffer against constant friction. It is not live, and the core is not a root-simply the hardest part of an area of hard skin. Corn plasters are not generally held to be a good idea. Although they soften the corn itself, they may also burn the healthy surrounding skin causing a painful infected area. A chiropodist is the best person to treat the corn. Meanwhile ease the friction by wearing a corn pad which will cushion the area. And leave off the shoes which caused the corn!

In-growing nails : These are sometimes caused by too small footwear forcing the nail into the fleshy padding of the toe itself, although sometimes, due to the natural shape of the nail in proportion to the toe, the flesh can overwhelm the nail. Never cut down sides of the nail, or cut the nail too near the ‘quick’.

You can relieve the pain and try to encourage the nail to grow straight by tucking a small amount of cotton wool under the nail at the sides. But again a chiropodist is the best person for expert treatment.
