Physical eye exercises are also on the top list of eye care tips. Exercises in moderation relax and strengthen eye muscles and refresh and rejuvenate our whole face. A pamper a day keeps the optometrist away! So challenge yourself with these exercises:

One: roll eyeballs in circular motions, changing directions
Two: move eyes only up and down with repeats, then side to side
Three: focus both eyes towards nose and back

Exercises play a huge role in proper circulation and healthy blood flow in the eyes. Don’t forget to take breaks and relax your eye muscles from time to time.

A well-deserved reward after exercising is called for. Pamper yourself with a cool compress of cucumber or facial masque with avocado to boost your skin. Remember eyes and skin are both organs of the body. Spoil them from time to time!

What NOT TO DO: smoke; overwork your eyes with television, computer or sunlight; expose eyes to dusty, dirty areas where germs and foreign particles can invade your eyes; continually rub your eyes which may cause serious conditions like conjunctivitis and carry germs and viruses to spread like wildfire; read under dim lighting or in semi-darkness which causes eye strain.

What TO DO: avoid glare and eye-straining activities to prevent red or tired eyes; rest your eyes every day; use caution when working with harmful ingredients like chemicals or cleaning agents; flush eyes out with clean water and eye or saline drops and don’t forget to stay well hydrated all the time; go outdoors often so fresh air and oxygen can nourish your eye membranes; give yourself a soothing eye massage incorporating gels, creams and cold press; do travel with an eye cover-up when travelling which not only encourages sleep but also keeps out smoke and germs from other passengers.

Best tip: try your best to incorporate these good habits into your daily routine until they become part of your schedule. They should become as natural to you as breathing!

Fine lines and wrinkles can appear as early as your 20s, so to protect skin, use an eye cream with antioxidants during the day. At night, use an anti aging skin cream with ingredients such as retinol or peptides.

Look for an eye cream in an aluminum tube or an opaque pump bottle – especially for creams that contain retinol or vitamin C. These packages protect these ingredients from exposure to oxygen and sunlight . Generally, eye creams that come in jars tend to be richer than those in bottles or tubes.

Place a pea-size dab of eye cream on your ring finger, which has the lightest touch and is least likely to pull the skin. Starting at the inner corner, dab the cream from just below your lashes to your orbital bone. Continue outward until you reach your crow’s feet.

Resist the temptation to gob on your eye cream at night. Too much can lead to itchy, puffy eyes the following morning.

Enough Rest

The most used part of our body is the eyes. Have you notice that you get migraines beginning driving more than ever during the night when you encounter bright lights from other cars? I usually have them. I found out that well rested eyes would mean lesser migraines. Rest is one important role in taking care of your eyes.

Proper Diet

Fruits and vegetables are a great diet in taking care of your eyes. Usually yellow fruits and vegetables are the best ones. These fruits and vegetables are very rich in beta carotene. Papaya, mangoes, squash, and even spinach can be a great source of beta carotene. These types of food can help improve and maintain good health for your eyes.

Drink Lots of Water

The skin around our eyes is very thin and underneath it is full of blood vessels. Drinking lots of water can prevent puffiness around our eyes. Do you know why our eyes become puffy at times? Our organization has defense method that every time we are dehydrated our body retain some water thus ensuing to puffiness. Drinking eight or more glasses of water a day can help detoxify our body.

2. Wash eyes with cold water to get sparkling eyes.

3. Put sliced cucumber over your eyes to treat dark circles.

4. Put potato slices on your eye to get rid off those dark circles.

5. Soak amla overnight in water and use this water the next morning to wash the eyes.

6. Soak cotton in Luke warm milk and cover eyes with it for 15 min.

7. To soothe tired eyes, dip cotton pads in chilled milk and place on closed eyes for 10 minutes. Now relax completely.

8. To completely relax the eyes and the surrounding muscles, close your eyes and think of something that is pleasant or soothing and at a distance. Now gently open your eyes and look into the distance. Next focus on an object at arm’s length. Do this extremely relaxing exercise four or five times a day.

Spending long hours in front of television or computers is part of peoples life today. Especially if you are a computer professional, there is usually no escape from it. This causes many eyes and vision related problems in future. Here are some useful eye care tips for computer users.

After every 20 to 30 minutes of work, look at a distant away object and blink several times. This will help in better focusing

Blink frequently. People tend to reduce blink rate while working on computer. This can lead to dry eyes. Try to blink 12 to 15 times every minute.

Exercise you eyes at frequent intervals. Eye exercise is simple. All you need to do is just blink several times, then close your eyes and role them in clockwise and anti clockwise direction. While doing this, inhale and exhale slowly and open your eyes slowly after doing this.

Rub your palms against each other till them become warm. Cover your eyes with your warm palms for about a minute. Palming is another great way to relax and soothe your eyes.

Splashing water on you face during breaks can keep you refreshed. This also helps in cooling your eyes.

A few minutes of walk during breaks will refresh your body and mind. It is also good for your eyes as walking increases blood supply to your eyes.

Fix an anti glare screen on to your monitor or use anti glare glass while working on computers. Also position the monitor and lights in such a manner that glare from the screen is minimum.

1.You must pluck eyebrows before bedtime so any redness will go overnight. In shaping your eyebrows make use of your facial features.

2. Use a pair of slant edge tweezers which hold hairs without diffculty. Comb hairs one way and after that other to remove losse hairs.

3. You should pluck hairs involving the brows and any stragglers. Do not remove the hairs from above your eyebrows.

4. Pluck all hair separately close to the root . Work in the way of the growth.

5. Always stay away fron over plucking. In defining your eyebrows select a shade close to your natural hair color.

6. When using a pencil you must apply in small, feathered strokes. When starting at the interior corner work outwards.

7. Blend the color with a brush. To tame stray hairs simply use hair gel and comb through to neaten.

• Don’t sit too close to your screen: The closer you sit to the screen, the more strain you are putting on the lens inside your eyes. The lens in your eye is controlled by muscles and its primary function is to focus objects you are looking at.

Prolonged starring at close distances is likely to overly exert these muscles, resulting in eye strain and temporal/frontal headaches. You should sit at least 65 cm (25,5 inches) away from your screen. The further back the better!

• Increase the font size: If the reason you sit so close to your screen is because you find it easier to read, then increase the font size. That way you can sit further back and read more comfortably.

• Make sure you blink!: The reason our eyes often sting when we are starring at a computer screen is because we tend not to blink as much as we should do. We should blink on average about 6 times per minute but when we are concentrating on a computer screen in can be as little as twice.

Blinking helps keep our eyes nourished and oxygenated so don’t forget to blink when you are busy blogging away!

• Look in to the distance: The reason our distance vision can look blurred after spending hours on the computer is because our eyes get so used to looking at something up close. This temporarily makes our eyes short sighted meaning our distance vision becomes blurred.

Every 10 minutes or so, try to look into the distance for a few seconds. It also relaxes all the muscles in your eyes that are in overdrive when we are looking at the computer.

1. Wash Your Eyes Regularly

This step is very much important if you want your eyes to be clear of debris or dist particles. Ensure that you wash your eyes frequently with clear water. This is a must if you work in a construction company or an asbestos factory. Similarly, you should wash your eyes whenever you return home from outside.

2. Adequate Rest

You should get at least 6 hours of sleep regularly if you want to protect your eyes. Adequate rest can prevent puffiness of eyes and water retention. Moreover, your eyes will feel rejuvenated after a good night’s sleep. Adequate rest is also n

ecessary if you work on the computer continuously for many hours.3.Avoid Sitting Close To the Television

Everyone sits too close to the television or the computer these days. This eventually affects the eye sight and leads to serious problems in the long run. It is recommended that you maintain at least 6 feet of distance while watching the television programs. Similarly, you should use LCD computer monitors as they are relatively harmless. However, ensure that you take small breaks in between.

4. Eye Drops

If puffiness and eye irritation is the problem, then you should administer eye drops regularly. You can get these eye drops from a pharmaceutical company or an optician. Avoid rubbing the eyes after administering the eye drops.

5. Visit an Eye Doctor

It is recommended that you visit an eye doctor at least once a month. The eye doctor will screen your eye and determine whether there are any problems with your eye.

1. Never Put Your Contact Lenses In Without Your Washing Hands First
There are around 4 million people in the UK wearing either daily disposable contact lenses or monthly disposables, but a huge percentage soon forget the advice bestowed by their prescribing optician and fail to wash their hands before inserting the lens into the eye. To prevent the transfer of dirt and bacteria into the eye, you must always wash and dry hands before handling your lenses.

2. Never Wash Your Contact Lenses in Tap Water
Washing contact lenses in tap water before placing them in the eye is a common bad habit many wearers admit too. Lenses should only be disinfected and rinsed with proper contact lens solution, which is purposefully designed to kill harmful bacteria and sterilise the lens ready for the next wear. Tap water contains bacteria which can lead to eye infections so should never be used as a solution substitute.

3. If You Drop Your Contact Lenses, Clean Them Before Wearing Again
Contact lenses are small and fiddly and if you’re trying to put your lenses in quickly, are rushing or trying to do too many things at once, it’s easy to end up dropping them on the floor, sink, table or any other nearby surface. Even if the surface itself has just been cleaned, the lens must be sterilised with an appropriate solution before being worn. It’s surprising how many people drop their contact lenses and then wear them immediately but this is a sure fire way to transfer dirt, germs and bacteria into the eye, leading to infections and discomfort.
