Physical eye exercises tips

Physical eye exercises are also on the top list of eye care tips.  Exercises in moderation relax and strengthen eye muscles and refresh and rejuvenate our whole face.  A pamper a day keeps the optometrist away!  So challenge yourself with these exercises:

One: roll eyeballs in circular motions, changing directions
Two: move eyes only up and down with repeats, then side to side
Three: focus both eyes towards nose and back

Exercises play a huge role in proper circulation and healthy blood flow in the eyes.  Don’t forget to take breaks and relax your eye muscles from time to time.

A well-deserved reward after exercising is called for. Pamper yourself with a cool compress of cucumber or facial masque with avocado to boost your skin.  Remember  eyes and skin are both organs of the body.  Spoil them from time to time!

Eye care tips

What NOT TO DO: smoke; overwork your eyes with television, computer or sunlight; expose eyes to dusty, dirty areas where germs and foreign particles can invade your eyes; continually rub your eyes which may cause serious conditions like conjunctivitis and carry germs and viruses to spread like wildfire; read under dim lighting or in semi-darkness which causes eye strain.

What TO DO: avoid glare and eye-straining activities to prevent red or tired eyes; rest your eyes every day; use caution when working with harmful ingredients like chemicals or cleaning agents; flush eyes out with clean water and eye or saline drops and don’t forget to stay well hydrated all the time; go outdoors often so fresh air and oxygen can nourish your eye membranes; give yourself a soothing eye massage incorporating gels, creams and cold press; do travel with an eye cover-up when travelling which not only encourages sleep but also keeps out smoke and germs from other passengers.

Best tip: try your best to incorporate these good habits into your daily routine until they become part of your schedule.  They should become as natural to you as breathing!

Using eye cream tips

  1. Fine lines and wrinkles can appear as early as your 20s, so to protect skin, use an eye cream with antioxidants during the day.  At night, use an anti aging skin cream with ingredients such as retinol or peptides.
  2. Look for an eye cream in an aluminum tube or an opaque pump bottle – especially for creams that contain retinol or vitamin C.  These packages protect these ingredients from exposure to oxygen and sunlight .  Generally, eye creams that come in jars tend to be richer than those in bottles or tubes.
  3. Place a pea-size dab of eye cream on your ring finger, which has the lightest touch and is least likely to pull the skin.  Starting at the inner corner, dab the cream from just below your lashes to your orbital bone.  Continue outward until you reach your crow’s feet.
  4. Resist the temptation to gob on your eye cream at night.  Too much can lead to itchy, puffy eyes the following morning.
