How to glow the skin

Your skin texture may be rough or dry, which is not related to your complexion. Yours is not an unusual situation since close to almost twenty percent of people have dry skin. The skin is a complex organ that requires adequate moisture to stay smooth and healthy. However, dry skin has difficulty in retaining adequate amounts of moisture. As you age, you will find that the dryness may increase since skin has difficulty retaining moisture as it ages and loses flexibility. If you stay in a colder climate, you will also notice that your skin will lose additional moisture in the cold. In the most severe cases, people with dry skin can develop irritable conditions such as itching, cracking, flaking and uneven skin. The first step is to make sure your skin is always adequately moisturized. Skin already secretes an oily liquid called sebum from its sebaceous glands (oil glands) that is a great natural moisturiser. You should use an additional oil-based moisturizer to help trap the sebum produced by the body to get maximum benefit. Make sure you apply the moisturizer immediately after a bath, while your skin is still wet and hydrated. If you have severely dry skin, you may even consider applying some natural oils (such as sesame oil) before the moisturizer. Always use a separate moisturizer containing sun block for parts of your body that are exposed to sunlight including the face, neck and arms.

In your bath or shower, use lukewarm water since hot water dries the skin. Bathing too often can remove additional natural oils from your skin, so try to manage with one or two short baths a day. Avoid deodorized or harsh soaps since they tend to dry the skin. Make sure you pat your skin dry rather than scrubbing away the natural oils and moisture. To enjoy a comfortable day, avoid harsh fabrics and use mild laundry products. Once a week, treat yourself to a natural facial by mixing the yolk of an egg with two tablespoons of milk and half a tablespoon of honey. Leave it on for about fifteen minutes before rinsing with lukewarm water. You can also use melon juice as a natural face wash. Finally, make sure you follow a healthy skin care diet and exercise regime to add a healthy glow to your reinvigorated skin.
