The black marks on your face are likely to be caused by a condition known as hyper pigmentation. Hyper pigmentation is usually a harmless condition where some parts of the skin reflect a darker pigmentation than the surrounding cells and can have an effect on the aesthetic appeal of an individual. As a result, they have the tendency to cause emotional distress and trauma. Most commonly, hyper pigmentation is caused by sun damage on the skin. A tendency to expose you to the harmful ultra violet rays of the skin, unprotected with sunscreen or any other protective gear could be very dangerous to the skin, even leading to a possibility of skin cancer later on. However, it is imperative that you ask a general health practitioner or a licensed doctor to have a closer look at the skin abnormalities as they could be a symptom of a more serious condition like Addison’s disease or Cushing’s disease. Other causes of dark patches on the skin can include but are not restricted to: hereditary and skin disorders.
There are a few available home remedies to lighten the skin tone and reduce the prominence of the hyper pigmentation. Apply slices of raw potato over the affected areas as the starch content is very helpful in reducing blemishes on the skin. Soak a set of 4 almond seeds through the course of the night and grind it into a fine paste the next morning with the help of some milk. Apply this mixture over the face and neck and leave it overnight. Wash the mixture off with cold water the next morning. Applying the lotion for 15 days, followed by twice a week will provide optimum results. You can also mix a little tomato pulp with a few drops of lime juice, and apply this paste on your face. After 20 minutes, you can wash your face, preferably with plain water, or with a mild soap. Ideally, this should be done twice a day for at least two weeks. Since lime juice is a natural bleaching agent, it has had some success in reducing the pigmentation of one’s skin. Use turmeric powder along with lime juice to help remove the tan. You could also try mixing oatmeal with curd and tomato juice and apply this on the face. Wash it off after leaving it on your face for 20 minutes. Leaving freshly ground mint leaves on your face for about 20 minutes every day for 20 days should help substantially as well.

1. Cover the problem up with cosmetics. If all else fails, use a flesh-toned color which will camouflage the problem.
2. Put 2 tablespoons in the freezer for few minutes and apply on the eyes for few seconds, until they are warm. Re-apply if necessary.
3. Reduce salt intake. Excess salt causes the body to retain water in unusual places, and this can result in puffiness under the eyes. Too much salt can also impair your circulation, and cause the blood vessels under the skin to appear bluer.
4. Cutting onions will help you cry out some of the moisture under and around your eyes. However it isn’t recommended you carry out this procedure daily. This will reduce the darkness under the eyes.
5. Eat a healthy, balanced diet and drink plenty of water. A whole host of cosmetic problems can be attributed to vitamin deficiencies. Dark circles and puffiness are often attributed to lack of vitamin K or inadequate antioxidants. Be sure to get plenty of fruits and vegetables—especially cabbage, spinach, and other leafy green vegetables—and take a daily vitamin supplement if necessary. Get adequate fluids to improve circulation.
6. Try to relax the space. You can do this by wetting a cotton swab and then freezing it for a little while. Then you should gently wipe under your eyes in the areas where the circles are occurring. When wiping, close your eyes and try not to flinch.
7. Treat your skin while you sleep. There are overnight facial masques available that may help reduce the appearance of puffiness or discoloration, but you can also make your own. Just before you go to bed, take a washcloth and wet it just a bit with cold water. Then squeeze out any excess water and place it over your eyes as you sleep. Treating your skin may help, but the real problem may also be that you have a poor vitamin and mineral absorption problem that must also be corrected.
8. Using tea bags under your eyes straight afterwards also helps. Puffiness may not reduce immediately but will shortly afterwards
