Hand care

Hands play an important role in modelling and everyday conversation and expression, come to that. People notice hands. Rough, coarse skin with bitten nails and chipped polish shows a gril up to be dilatory about her appearance and implies a lack of  ‘polish’ in her work. From a model’s point of view, bad hands limit her performance in front of the camera. So many shots call for hands as accessories to a ‘mood’ or expression, and compromising a ‘look’ in order to hide the model’s bad hands can result in an awkward com-position.

To encourage nails to grow healthly and keep the cuticles smooth and supple, you must perfrom a thorough manicure at least once a week. Your equipment consists of:

1.cotton wool                2.Almond oil               3. Oily polish remover  4. Leather buffer           5. A bowl of warm, soapy water                  6. Base coat                7. Emery boards                                      8.  Nail polish                9. Orange sticks         10. Top coat        11. Hand cream              12.  Quick-dry spray

How to rescue nail-biting

Posted by admin on May 26th, 2009

The ugliest nightmare! Not only does it turn a reasonably graceful pair of hands into stubby paws, but it actually reduces the amount of strong nail area when the nail begins to grow back. You can always tell a reformed nail biter by the proportion of pink to white. As the nail was habitually nibbled further down the quick, the eventual re-growth at the tip, although weak and brittle-looking, easily equals the basic pink area.

Lack of ’something to do with the hands’ is the common excuse for nervous nibblers. So try occupying them with knitting or even fiddling with a piece of material whilst you’re watching television, listening to records, or traveling. Keeping them manicured and coated with nail-strengthening clear varnish is a good deterrent. Avoid bright polishes which draw attention to your stubby nails while they’re growing back, but flatter them instead with muted flesh tones or simply clear varnish.
